Year's worth of food and current costs

EXCELLENT site this guy has.....he makes a list of a year's worth of food and the current cost ( as of Nov 1st, 2008 )...these are common, grocery store items, nothing 'exotic'. Apparently, he also updates the cost factor once a month also ( his local cost....your mileage may vary ), and has a TON of other free info on the site....click the site map button at the top of the page......well worth your time to visit.

Hey thanks Andy. Your right, very useful site.

If you don't mind me hijacking into this thread I have a question for everyone.

What do you store your dry goods (boxes & bags of flour, sugar, salt, baking mixes...) in, besides buckets, so mice/beatles don't chew into them?

I've been looking for plastic tubs but they don't even seal good enough to keep spiders out.

Go to Home Depot.....get their plastic buckets and lids. Although I guess mice COULD chew thru them, I've never seen it.

Don't know. Just start buying and figure it out as you go.

From the same site: (bout 3/4's down the page)
<big>
The following two storage areas are places that almost everyone should have available in a home or in a rented apartment.

Thanks Andy, but this can't be correct. It states that food prices have increased by an annualized 16.3% so far this year. We all know from the Consumer Price Index that the real increase is less than 4%.

Thanks for the link.
